In 2024 World Rugby requested a dynamic package to entice a broad and diverse new generation of rugby fans to this tournament. Fans of comics, storytelling and gaming, the AE Live Ignite design studio created an innovative and cinematic title sequence set in an imagined underwater world deep in the Pacific Ocean.
The team designed ocean dwelling beings inspired by the myth and legend from each competing Pacific nations team; USA, Canada, Fiji, Samoa, Japan and Tonga. This fantasy narrative sees statues of each reimagined titan come to life and team up to unleash the tournament ball upon the world from the depths of the Pacific.
The statues were painstakingly researched with indigenous cultures referenced; the music became a complimentary fusion of traditional Pasifika and electronic instrumentation. The titles build anticipation and lend grandeur to each game…the blue and red energy colourway featured through the match graphic system.
