The aim of this piece was to understand the kind of ‘Synesthesia’ that I experienced; something which I had taken for granted until this point. Synesthesia is a condition wherein the stimulation of one sensory pathway (hearing) leads to involuntary experiences with a second pathway (sight). Before I started directing my piece, I exposed myself to different genres of music varying in pacing, rhythm, mood and chord progressions, to establish what triggered visuals when I listened to music. My final sound track was composed with the aim of checking all these triggers. It was a struggle to assign words to something so abstract, but that was the challenge. To loosely put it – I often saw a beautiful world of repeating patterns and geometric movement, predominantly in blue and pink tones; which I did my best to translate into the piece.
