Director T.S. Botkin came to our team with a new perspective of WWII, and we helped form a look for this feature documentary that captured the heart of the story, but used today’s Filipino voices to create the art. We partnered with Filipino artist, Nonie Cruzado, to make original art pieces that were used to texture the 3D animated vignettes. Layering Illustrations helped us create complete scenes to better tell the story and bring depth and life to static paintings and our newly created illustrations. The American that painted the original paintings could tell his story, but these original art pieces from a Filipino artist helped pull new voices that have never been heard. AI footage restoration techniques and projection mapping brought old footage back to life.
