The feature documentary film Identity explores the history of Czech graphic design and typography, with a strong focus on posters, type, books, and visual identity across the decades.
Following the journey of American art collector Nicholas Lowry, who has Czech roots himself, the audience is introduced to iconic works by artists such as Alfons Mucha or Ladislav Sutnar, as well as the ubiquitous wayfinding system of the Prague metro and outdoor tourist signage.
Motion designer Vit Zemcik was commissioned to create numerous motion design sequences that bring classic graphic design works to life through animation. Leveraging the visual concept of layering, he developed a motion system featuring several types of animation, ranging from vector-based and motion interpretations of classic works to narrative kinetic typography.
